"We welcome the following new faculty members of St. Joseph School.  Each brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the school and I feel very blessed to have them with us!

SIster Jerilyn will be teaching one class of Religion to every grade on Mondays and Fridays.  She will also be tutoring.  Our music teacher, well known to all of you, is Michelle Fraser, our Parish Organist and Music Director. Deborah Kraynak is our Pre-K teacher and will also be assisting in the tutoring and enrichment program. Meg Perez will be teaching Spanish and Deborah Webster will be teaching P.E.  Finally, Pamela Delaguila will be teaching computer classes.

Our "Back to School Night" last Wednesday evening September 12, was very successful with a huge turnout.  We welcomed many new parents and I'm sure that they enjoyed hearing about our school.

                                                                   Love and prayers,

                                                                   Arlene Clancy"

A Note From the Principal - Friday, September 14, 2007

The first full week of school is almost over as I sit down to share the week's events with you.

Thank you to the many people who attended our Back to School Night on the 12th.  I have never seen such a large turnout.  I met many new parents and the Home School Officers were delighted with the number of volunteers that they signed up for the many jobs that are available.

Remember to put September 27th on your calendar as a half-day.  Our teachers will all be going to St. Theresa's for Professional Development.  There are only two such days in this school year because the other two days are full days.  One was August 27th and the second is October 9th.  That's nice for you because you get a four-day weekend.  The second half-day is January 10th.

Our second fire drill of the year was a big success.  The drill coincided with an inspection by Brake Fire Protection doing their quarterly inspection of all systems.  We notify the Shelton Police Department and the Shelton Alarm System when we do drills so that they do not send equipment when the alarm goes in.

All the children are settling in to the routine of 'specials' once a day and they seem to be enjoying the diversity.  Keep in mind that Physical Education is on Wednesday or Friday and make sure that the children are dressed appropriately for the weather.  Mrs. Webster likes to get them outside for some of the activities if it's not too hot or too cold.

Special Reminder - The Home School Association meeting will be held on Monday evening, September 17th at 7pm in the Holy Family Room - downstairs in the school.  Note this is also the room used by the After School Program.

Have a good weekend and hope to see you Monday evening.

Love and prayers,

Arlene Clancy
